After an abortion ...

An abortion is something a woman may have chosen for various reasons at a difficult time in her life. Often women feel because of the situation they are in at the time that they have no alternative.

Following an abortion a woman’s immediate feeling is often relief. It seems like the problem is solved and life is back to normal. But for some that feeling is replaced with a variety of emotional and physical side-effects which she had not expected.

Even if it was a long time ago …

Many women bury these feelings in order to survive. The abortion may have been a secret and if family and friends do know they are often uncertain how to react or how to talk about it. The woman herself may fear revealing her feelings in case she is judged or misunderstood. Ultimately this buried pain can lead to a condition called “post abortion stress syndrome” a widely recognised stress problem and it can interfere significantly with a woman’s life.

  We can help –
Healing emotional damage after an abortion is possible and the process starts as soon as you are able to admit a problem exists.
Many women have been helped to come to terms with their decision to have an abortion through one-to-one counselling using a structured course called “The Journey”.

Trained advisors are available for you to talk to.
