At the heart of the programme is the premise that each person is a unique and valuable individual - we want to encourage the development of self-worth, self-esteem and to cultivate a healthy respect for self and others.
The team sees the active involvement and engagement of students as vitally important. They seek to create a safe environment whereby a positive and respectful rapport is established and discussion is encouraged through a variety of teaching methods.
We want to provide young people – both boys and girls – with high quality information about relationships and sex and the support to develop the skills, confidence and appropriate values framework they need to make and carry through positive choices, including a strong focus on the benefits of delaying early sex.
Evidence suggests that strong RSE can improve engagement with learning through building self-esteem, emotional development, reducing bullying and improving behaviour – as well as helping to tackle key health issues such as teenage pregnancy.
