About the Willow Tree Centre

The Centre was founded in 2005 to provide a professional and confidential service available to anyone experiencing unintended pregnancy, pregnancy loss or difficulties following an abortion.

We are passionately committed to helping women and couples through pregnancy crises; offering free, confidential and impartial help and support.

We are Organisational Members of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP Membership No: 239541) and therefore adhere to their Code of Ethics and Practice.

We are also Sole Affiliate Members of Pastoral Care UK (part of the Association of Christian Counsellors).

The way we work:

  • We acknowledge freedom of choice, respecting all clients' decisions.

  • We aim to effectively and cooperatively work with other agencies.

  • We provide information that is impartial, clear, accessible and well evidenced.

  • Our services are free.

  • Client confidentiality is of paramount importance.

  • Our services are inclusive. We aim to treat everyone fairly and equally regardless of gender, age, marital status, racial, ethnic, or national origins, sexual orientation, religion or beliefs, or physical or mental capacity.

  • We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Our ethos:

We seek to empower individuals to work through their situation, by providing them with emotional and practical support and information. Our service is unbiased and non-judgemental, and we aim to build confidence and self esteem.

Respect for the client is central to our values and we take our lead from the client in terms of the issues they want to explore. If this includes spiritual issues, we aim to support the client to explore what is important to them.

We believe this approach reflects the values of Christ, and we seek to express our Christian faith by serving others in this way. We train all our volunteers to work in a way that is sensitive and appropriate to the client's culture and beliefs, and our service has been proved valuable to people from various faiths and cultures.
